Last minute Easter breaks

We’ve all been there: you’re so busy that you really need a holiday, but finding the time to actually sit down and book one is a challenge. Before you know it, school holidays are mere days away, and despite your constant daydreams about beaches, swimming pools, and heat (remember that?) you’ve nothing arranged.

If this is you right now, don’t worry. As the Easter holidays approach, hotels and airlines often release some of their best deals in a bid to make the most of their busiest times of year. And we’ve done the hard work for you, scouring the internet high and low in order to find the top options for last-minute Easter holidays – and as we’re totally independent our only vested interest is that you find the holiday you need.

Whether it’s a cheap and cheerful family beach break, or a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, here’s the Flexicover team’s favourite five deals.

All inclusive in Cape Verde - seven nights, from £614 per person

If you want weather guaranteed to melt your Easter Eggs, then Cape Verde, which boasts an average temperature of 26C in April, could well fit the bill. First Choice is slashing the prices of Easter breaks to Sol Dunas Resort in Sal. The resort is a winner for families, with three pools, waterslides and an amphitheatre for performances. Meanwhile, Mum and Dad can visit the spa for some well-earned R&R! A family of four flying from Manchester Airport on Sunday 7 April costs £614 per person - a saving of 41%.

Five Star in Sardinia - three nights, £3,550 for two adults & two children

Want to keep the little ones entertained while you pamper yourself in luxurious surroundings? If you’re willing to splash the cash, try the five star Hotel Pineta. At the Children’s Wonderland you’ll find the Barbie Activity Centre, theatrical workshop, an educational vegetable garden as well as the usual activities. Meanwhile, parents can head off to the thalasso pools of the Aquaforte Spa for a spot of pampering. Sardatur Holidays is offering a three-night full-board stay for two adults and two kids for £3,550, down from the original price tag of £4,176. The price includes airport transfers, as well as the Easter Sunday gala dinner. Flights depart London Stansted on 19 April.

Budget friendly in Costa Brava - seven nights, from £499 for two people

Fancy a good old-fashioned fly and flop holiday to shake off those winter cobwebs? There are plenty of Costa Brava Easter holidays for the taking over at loveholidays - and you won’t have to remortgage your house to afford them either. Fly on Easter Sunday (21 April) for the cheapest deal of all: a seven-night stay at the three-star Blue Sea Montevista Hawai in Lloret de Mar for £499 for two guests. Fancy different dates or hotel? There are plenty of options for week-long trips to this popular Spanish destination at under £300 per person. These seriously economical deals include accommodation, return flights, cabin baggage, booking fees and flight taxes.

Chill out in Barbados - seven nights all inclusive, £5,315 for two adults & two children

If you want Easter to be a relaxed affair, jet off to Barbados from London Gatwick for some of those irresistible Caribbean vibes. Virgin Holidays is offering a seven-night, all-inclusive stay at Savannah Beach to a family of four for a total of £5,315 - or £1,329 per person. Fly on 16 April and return on 23 April. The hotel is set right on the beach within a jaw-dropping UNESCO World Heritage Site. There’s plenty for kids and teens, with two children’s clubs and a family entertainment centre. For adults if relaxing is the order of the day you’ve got two pools, a spa, three restaurants, and a handful of bars to help while away the hours.

Beautiful Barcelona - three nights room only, from £340 per person

If the kids are old enough to appreciate a city break, what better place than Barcelona, the beating heart of Spanish culture and history. At lastminute.com a holiday including flights from London Stansted departing on 18 April and rooms at Hotel Novel costs from £340 per person sharing. The hotel is located very centrally in Barcelona allowing families to make the most of their low-hassle stay, and three nights is plenty of time to catch the Sagrada Familia (just make sure to pre-book your tickets if you want to see inside), take a walk around Gaudi’s art installation of Parc Guell, and enjoy a whole lot of tapas.
